Anyone here into Amiibos? You know, those little figurines Nintendo have been drip-feeding us for a few months? I like the idea of Amiibos. Not so much as figures you can use in Smash Bros. for Wii U as this is quite the gimmick to me, but more the fact that they're fairly high quality figurines of emblematic Nintendo characters and which are actually collectable. That was the appeal I found in them. Thus, I started a collection. Boy I was in way over my head.
I don't know if you guys have been following this closely, but collecting Amiibos right now is pure hell. At least in North America. Shipments are scarce, quantities are really limited (mostly due to a port strike occuring on the West coast but also Nintendo who planned this all wrong). You have to pre-order almost everything in order to assure you a complete collection. And if you didn't pre-order in the first 10 minutes of their availability, well you're stuck with nothing. Then you have to either order from Japan at $30+ each figurine, or turn to scalpers who inflate prices often over $50 for the rarer Amiibos. This ordeal is both time-consuming and expensive.
BUT STILL OMG THEY LOOK SO GOOD TOGETHER I MEAN LOOK AT THIS DOESN'T THAT MAKE YOU WANNA BUY THEM ALL.
Screw you, Fox McCloud. Your delivery is dragging, you're not part of the family picture.
So yeah. Anybody else going through this? Any interesting stories to tell?
